This performance strand will support a wide range of musical interests including classical, jazz, and popular music (if you have interests in studying other genres please get in touch at SummerAcademy@lcm.ac.uk). Students will experience a range of workshops introducing them to the skills needed for the new digital music industry, composition, theory, ensemble and solo performance, and how to prepare for higher education applications and auditions.

We have a bursary fund that supports students and their families dependent on their situation.
Bursaries and scholarships support young people from underrepresented backgrounds (i.e. Black, Asian and ethnic minority students, disabled students and those from low-income households).
If you are applying for a bursary because your total taxable household income is under £50,000, please see the information below. For all other bursary applications, you do not need to complete the form as we will have the information we need from your enrolment application. If you have any questions, please contact us at SummerAcademy@lcm.ac.uk.
For families with a total household taxable income below £25,000, we have 3 x fully funded places covering tuition fees, accommodation and travel costs (within the UK) available.
For families with a total household taxable income between £25,000 - £50,000, we have partial bursaries and scholarships towards tuition fees available.
Summer Academy students will have access to Leeds Conservatoire's virtual learning environment SPACE giving students access to interactive resources and the ability to upload a mixture of videos and recordings.
All lessons will be delivered in person so students can discuss new topics and concepts with their tutors and peers, as well as having individual time to implement new topics into their own practice.
SPACE is used as an additional resource that tutors may use in their lessons.
As part of the Summer Academy students participate in evening social activities throughout the week. One of the exciting parts of being a student at a conservatoire or university is the social side of a course which includes meeting and collaborating with other creatives.
Our summer school evening activities will encourage you to relax after each busy day, make friends and get to know your fellow summer school peers. After all – the staff and students that you meet on this course could well become your industry contacts in the future!
Our friendly team will also be around for each evening activity should you have any questions about the summer school. Exact details of the social programme will be confirmed nearer to the time and may be subject to change.
Social activities are included in the Summer Academy fee.
Four night accommodation (arrive Monday, check out Friday) is available as an option for students at an additional cost of £275.
The accommodation will be at Clarence Dock Village Student Accommodation.
We recommend that students attending this Summer School pathway have a working knowledge of music theory, and a performance standard on their instrument of grade 6 (or above).
As well as this performance strand, there is another available Summer Academy pathway in Music Production. Both strands will run on the same dates of Monday 24 - Friday 28 July 2023.
