Bio
Meg de Bell is a 23-year-old actor from rural Herefordshire currently based in Leeds. She grew up in theatre groups devising and writing her own work, a passion she has maintained to this day. She is also a capable musician having achieved Grade 8 in classical saxophone.
In 2019 she accepted a place on the foundation course at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts to begin her professional training.
From September 2021 Meg has been training at Leeds Conservatoire. Her roles so far include Nina in The Seagull (Anton Chekov) and Stupid F**king Bird (Aaron Posner) and Margarita/Erica in The Suicide (Suhayla El-Bushra and Nikolai Erdman). She also worked with an ensemble to craft their own unique version of Alice Birch’s [Blank].
Outside of her training Meg has pursued her love of writing, taking part in the National Theatre’s New Views writing programme at Leeds Playhouse. She debuted the work she produced there at the New Age Fundraiser, a student-led fundraiser in Leeds in aid of engaging young people with the arts.
In Meg's third and final year at Leeds Conservatoire she will perform as Lady Susan Climber in Mike Bartlett’s Scandaltown; it’s first production off the West End at Leeds City Varieties. She also recently performed as Balthasar/Ensemble in Romeo and Juliet in the Quarry Theatre at Leeds Playhouse.
