To begin the 2024/25 series, the CAERUS Quartet presents highly contrasting music from France and England. The programme focuses on Benjamin Britten’s epic second string quartet which is paired with Henry Purcell’s Fantasias whose influence can be heard in the Britten.
Tokyo-born violinist Akiko Ono launched her career after winning prizes at several international competitions, going on to work with orchestras throughout the world. With pianist Alison Rhind she performs Strauss’ lyrical 19th Century violin sonata, and Korngold’s theatrical pieces drawn from his incidental music for Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing.
