Bio

Amara is an Actor Musician from the West Midlands, currently in their graduate year at Leeds Conservatoire. They have been described as a bold and fearless performer, and embrace a collaborative, playful approach to their  work. They play piano, violin, guitar, and have recently begun exploring percussion.

Credits while training include, King Rat in Dick Whittington: The Rock and Roll Panto, Paul Snyder in Brecht’s St Joan of the Stockyard, a schoolchild in Slung Low’s film The Magician, as well as working with The Gracefool Collective on Kick Off for Leeds City of Culture 2023.

They have a particular interest in physical theatre, dance, and martial arts, and love exploring how stories can be told through the body. Their passions also extend to songwriting, which led them to being on The Voice UK 2019, and have since continued to write and produce original music. In their graduate season, Amara is thrilled to have played Vernon Little in Tanya Ronder’s adaptation of Vernon God Little, as well as working as an Understudy in Tutti Frutti’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf over the Christmas period.
