Katie Shortt

Bio

Katie is originally from Belfast, where she trained at the Lyric Theatre’s Drama Studio before moving to Leeds. While studying in Belfast, her credits included Marta in Company, Grand Opera House Belfast, Mina in Dracula Workshop, Lyric Theatre Belfast and Sam in the short film What We Left Behind which gained official selection at the Paris and Prague Film Festivals. Katie has achieved professional credits while in training, originating the role of Erin in the one-woman play The Four Worst Things I’ve Ever Done, performing in the play reading of Big Kids at the Stephen Joseph Theatre and was an Actor/Swing in Northern Opera Companies production of Silla. Katie also enjoys producing, creating underground, queer, cabaret-burlesque nights in Leeds. As a musician, Katie is a classically trained flautist (Grade 8) and enjoys singing (Alto/Jazz), accompanying herself on the piano. This year they will be performing the roles of Astrid in Boys will be Boys and Pulkheria in Crime and Punishment.
