Jazz FM has announced the nominees for the Jazz FM Awards 2022 with PPL and PRS for Music, which will once again recognise the best new talent, contemporary icons and established stars from across the jazz, soul and blues spectrum.
Jasmine Myra, who studied Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire, has been nominated in the Breakthrough Act of the Year category. Jasmine is a saxophonist, composer and band leader, based in Leeds. Signed to Gondwana Records, Jasmine’s debut album ‘Horizons’ was released in July this year.
Nick Pitts, Content Director at Jazz FM, emphasised the calibre of the 2022 nominees in the announcement:
“I’d like to say a huge congratulations to all of the artists nominated for awards this year. The scene both in the UK and abroad continues to thrive, and competition for nominations is as fierce as ever so all of those we’ve included on the list are special talents who continue to push the boundaries and create incredible music.”
On Twitter, Jasmine added:
“I’m very excited to announce that I have been nominated for the Jazz FM Breakthrough Act of the Year Award. Finding out that I had even been considered was completely unexpected and a surreal moment for me. I’m super grateful for all the support so far.”
Public voting is open now through this link and will close on Monday 26 September at 6:00PM. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Shoreditch Town Hall on Thursday 20 October 2022. We wish Jasmine the best of luck.
