The National Student Survey (NSS) is an opportunity for final year students across the UK to give feedback on their student experience, measuring satisfaction based on teaching, learning, feedback and assessment.
Our third year students, who graduated last Thursday at Leeds Town Hall, reported an 81% overall satisfaction rate – LCoM’s highest ever score.
Areas that were especially commended by students included the quality of teaching and academic support, opportunities to collaborate with fellow students and the conservatoire’s facilities.
All three TEF areas (teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support) have increased from 2017 to achieve scores above 80%, with assessment and feedback and academic support at their highest ever rates.
Vice Principal & Director of Curriculum for LCoM Joe Wilson said; “We’re delighted to have achieved our highest ever NSS score, which is a reflection of our staff’s tireless efforts in delivering top quality teaching and support to our students.
We are grateful to our hard working staff and also to our fantastic students who have chosen to recognise the conservatoire with this excellent feedback.”
Other areas commended by students include opportunities to collaborate with other students – at 88% satisfaction, and the facilities at LCoM rated at 89%. Significant improvements were made to the facilities at LCoM during 2017/18, which saw the addition of a purpose-built music library, a business hub and a rooftop bar adjoining our venue.
