We are delighted to launch a partnership with eStaccato, an online platform for music education. Through this partnership, we hope to share some of our in-house expertise with musicians of all ages and abilities, based all over the world.

From Leeds College of Music, tutors involved in the programme include Curriculum Co-Ordinator for Jazz, Dave Walsh, who specialises in drum tuition; Principal Lecturer Ivo Neame, who specialises in piano tuition; and Jamie Taylor; Principal Lecturer and specialist in guitar tuition.

An innovative platform for music education

What sets eStaccato apart from other platforms is the quality audio and video, something that has previously posed a challenge in online music lessons. Vice Principal & Director of Curriculum at Leeds College of Music, Professor Joe Wilson says; “eStaccato has created an innovative solution to a very real problem associated with distance learning, ensuring both high quality audio for teacher and pupil, as well as enabling real-time feedback and 1-1 tutoring.”

Jamie Taylor, who is an ambassador for eStaccato, feels that the high quality audio is the key to facilitating effective feedback and development;

“What makes eStaccato stand out is the capability of the software, which allows for a level of audio/visual quality that really does feel like the next best thing to a face-to-face lesson. I also love the fact that the people behind eStaccato are musicians themselves, who take the subject seriously and understand the needs of users at either end of the system.”

Accessible to all

Whilst musicians of all ages and abilities can benefit from the platform, Taylor also points out that eStaccato can be of huge benefit to prospective undergraduate music students, who may need some additional support preparing for an audition or for the start of their course;

“I've met lots of prospective students over the years who are considering auditioning for or preparing to start full-time study, but are finding it difficult to source the kind of teaching they need in their local area. One of the things that eStaccato allows us to do is to provide specialised support to those people, that might otherwise require them to make impractical and expensive round-trips to other cities or, in some cases, other countries."

Making high quality music education available to all is at the heart of the partnership between Leeds College of Music and eStaccato. As Director of eStaccato Pavel Ambroz puts it;

“LCoM and eStaccato share a passion for high quality music education and by working together we can set the standard in online music learning. We believe that our partnership can advocate the possibilities of distance music learning and lead to our ultimate goal: making music education available to everyone, everywhere.”
