Leeds College of Music is delighted to announce it will be hosting the Leeds leg of Red Bull Studios’ #NormalNotNovelty tour, on 19 September. The series of female-only music workshops is part of an initiative to break down stigma in the music industry and encourage more women to get involved in music production, engineering and DJing.

As part of a UK tour of music production colleges in various cities, including Bristol, London and Manchester, Leeds College of Music will play host to world-leading female experts and local heroes during the event.

Dr. Mariana Lopez, a master of post-production and sound design and Vice Chair of the Audio Engineering Society, will lead a session on Engineering, in what promises to be one of the highlights of the #NormalNotNovelty series.

Meanwhile, Ibiza regular Ceri will lead a production masterclass and drum & bass pioneer DJ Storm (of Storm and Kemistry) will bring her 30-year experience to a DJ workshop.

Access to the session is entirely free and all aspiring female music producers, DJs and sound engineers can sign-up via the Red Bull Studios website: www.redbull.co.uk/normalnotnovelty.

The Leeds workshop will also be paired with a late-evening meet-and-greet, fronted by Girls That Gig, a Leeds-based platform created by Leeds College of Music students Vicky Hollingsworth and Megan Roe that advocates for all women within the creative and music industries.

More details about how to sign up for the Girls That Gig networking session will be announced soon, via the GTG Facebook Page.
