Students, soon-to-be graduates, and alumni from Leeds Conservatoire are set to perform and complete paid placements at We Out Here festival. This is linked to an ongoing partnership, now in its fifth year.
We Out Here is an award-winning festival that celebrates world-class music, alongside wellness, family and cultural activities, high quality sound and much more. Curated by Gilles Peterson, the festival platforms genre pioneers alongside emerging talents representing the best in jazz, soul, dub, electronic, house, techno, hip-hop and everything in between. The festival is taking place from 14 to 17 August in Dorset.
As part of the partnership, ten Leeds Conservatoire students will have the opportunity to work in a variety of positions across the stage management and artist liaison teams. In addition four artists, from various pathways at the conservatoire, are set to perform on several stages. Shania Sabrina, Murgatroyd and Tom Warrilow’s Cinquillo on Tomorrow’s Warriors Big Top; Fight the Giant on Lush Life. Find out more about these artists below.
Other artists who studied at the conservatoire, and secured performance slots separate to the partnership, include future-soul artist Mica Sefia, who has won a place to perform through the Abram Wilson competition, and eclectic ensemble Nubiyan Twist.

Shania Sabrina

Neo-soul/alt-jazz singer Shania Sabrina released her debut album in 2024 aged just 18, and she performs her original songs from the album, inspired by Erykah Badu, Corinne Bailey Rae and Cleo Soul, with her full live band. Shania and her band made their festival debut at Liverpool Sound City earlier this year, supported by Leeds Conservatoire.

Drawing inspiration from influential artists like Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper, Murgatroyd blends elements of RnB, jazz, and neo-soul into a dynamic musical experience. Their performances are filled with soulful melodies, infectious rhythms, and a distinctive fusion of genres that leave audiences yearning for more.
