On his appointment Professor Ayling said, “I am looking forward to continuing my commitment to bringing together the music industry and music education to maximise the potential of emerging music creators and supporting every songwriter - at every stage of their career.”
Professor Joe Wilson, Principal of Leeds Conservatoire and founding member of the band Sneaker Pimps, said, “I am proud that our world class staff strike a balance between innovative practice in the classroom as well as being recognised songwriters and composers. Professor Ayling is a prime example of this, rightly recognised as being a leader in his field as an educator as well as an artist in his own right.
“The Ivors Academy is a fantastic resource for composers and songwriters. In particular, its continued support for early career artists is very welcome. Music and industry working together ensures both the quality and innovation of songwriting in the UK and The Ivors Academy is a great space for this to happen.”
The Ivors Academy protects, empowers and champions songwriters and composers. Each year, their commitment to excellence is showcased through The Ivors with Amazon Music and The Ivors Classical Awards, where they honour the outstanding contributions of music creators. The Ivors Academy advocates for fair compensation, respect, and support for songwriters and composers at every stage of their careers.
