TIGER by the TAIL are an innovative electronic duo, on a mission to blow your mind with a blend of catchy hooks and moody soundscapes. Vocalist Emma Barker and producer Callum Lewis both study Music Production at LCoM and are set to play our Sound City showcase next Saturday 4 May.
We spoke to them about what's in store for their set...
How does it feel to be playing at Sound City?
We’re really excited to kick off summer with this festival, we can’t wait to blow everyone’s brain out!
Give us a brief history of your band/your music?
We met at a rave in 2017 and started writing together soon after. We both worked on each other’s tunes and ended up creating some early TIGER by the TAIL magic. Slowly we’ve developed our sound, experimenting with cinematics, bass and vocal production. After a year of producing together, we’ve got an arsenal of 10 singles which we’ll be releasing on the first of each month from September, after our debut single release in May. Buckle up.
How would you describe your sound?
We fuse together heavy electronic basslines and melancholy vocals. Expect resonant frequencies, hard-hitting hooks and atmospheric soundscapes bound to move your heart and your feet.
What can people expect from your Sound City set?
You’ll be catapulted into a realm of emotive soundscapes, then ripped out by huge basslines.
Do you think playing Sound City will be different to past gigs and why?
This is our first festival, which is cool because our music will be totally out in the open for everyone to hear. We’ve beefed up the set to cater.
What are you most excited about playing at Sound City?
We can’t wait to play our music to new people. We’ve got a crazy summer coming up, we’re playing five festivals and Sound City is the first one. We’re excited to kick it all off.
You are releasing your first single on 3 May - what are your plans for the launch?
We’ve actually got our single launch party that night (Friday 3 May) at Wharf Chambers, which we can’t wait for!
