Leeds Conservatoire collaborate with a variety of festivals across the UK to create work experience and performance opportunities for our current students and alumni. 

The Employability & Enterprise team work closely with festival organisers to deliver tailored packages specific to student requirements, whether that be as performers or staff members. 

We Out Here Festival (14th - 17th August 2025) is a musical project courtesy of Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM, and Brownswood Recordings, bringing their unmistakable brand of musical eclecticism to the Dorset countryside.

This year Leeds Conservatoire is partnering with We Out Here to provide nine voluntary work opportunities for current third year students and Class of 2024 graduates, and four performance slots for Leeds Conservatoire bands.

The following opportunities are available:

  • Performers - 4 performance slots available on the first day of the festival, Thursday 14th August.
  • Placement workers - voluntary work placements across the following roles:

All of these opportunities are unpaid; however food and staff camping is covered, along with full access to the festival across the weekend. Leeds Conservatoire Employability & Enterprise will arrange transport to and from the site.

Deer Shed Festival (25th - 28th July 2025) is a vibrant celebration of music, arts, and family-friendly fun. Since its inception, this festival has grown into a beloved event, drawing attendees from across the UK. Known for its eclectic line-up, Deer Shed has hosted a diverse array of artists, including the likes of John Grant, Goldfrapp, and Public Service Broadcasting, offering something for every musical taste.

This year Leeds Conservatoire is partnering with Deer Shed to provide two paid work opportunities for current third year students and Class of 2024 graduates, and two performance slots for Leeds Conservatoire bands.

The following opportunities are available:

  • Performers - 2 performance slots available on the first day of the festival, Thursday 14th August.
  • Placement workers - paid work placements in the following roles:

The placement opportunities are paid at national living wage; food and staff camping is covered, along with full access to the festival across the weekend. Leeds Conservatoire Employability & Enterprise will arrange transport to and from the site.

110 Above (28th – 30th August 2025) is an intimate 1,000-cap festival showcasing up-and-coming grassroots talent in the Leicestershire countryside.

This year Leeds Conservatoire is working with 110 Above to provide eight voluntary work opportunities for current third year students and Class of 2024 graduates.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work alongside highly trained events staff and be provided with an opportunity to learn on the job.

  • Hours: Each applicant will be required to be available for work between 10am and 10pm on each day of the festival. Within those hours teams work flexibly with breaks.
  • Availability: Applicants must be available for the full duration of the festival, with one day either side (Wednesday 27th August – Sunday 31st August 2025).
  • Accommodation: There will be a separate camping area for staff/ volunteers, including 24 hour access to a permanent shower block and the crew have 24 hr access. Crew will need to bring their own tents.
  • Food: During the festival volunteers will have access to backstage catering which will provide 1 main meal and breakfast, plus a staff room which will remain stocked with snacks, drinks, pizzas and sandwich making materials.
  • Application deadline: Tuesday 22nd April 10am. Applications will be reviewed within 2 weeks.

These opportunities are unpaid; however food and staff camping is covered, along with full access to the festival across the weekend. Leeds Conservatoire Employability & Enterprise will cover costs of transport to and from the site.

In order to make our involvement with the festival as successful as possible, you must be willing to work with Leeds Conservatoire around any promotional activities associated with the festival. A hard-working and positive attitude is essential. Whilst you’ll be able to enjoy the festival when you are not working, you’ll be expected to work throughout the hours of your shifts and be ready to start in advance.

Moovin' Festival takes place near Stockport from 13th-15th June 2025. They currently have the following volunteer opportunities available:

Artist Liaison Roles:

  • Artist Liaison Office Assistant - supporting the AL Office to deliver the show. Roles will include helping with artist arrivals and logistics, helping take artists to their stage, helping the AL manager with administration tasks and general running tasks.
  • Stage Artist Liaison Assistant (a few roles available across a few stages) - helping the Artist Liaison team for the stage to ensure the smooth running of that stage; flipping dressing rooms and keeping green rooms tidy, helping with riders, being a point of contact for touring parties.
  • Runner - a variety of roles across the Artist Liaison Department. You'll be helping at both stages, accreditation and the AL Office.
  • Rider Store Assistant - assisting our rider team to organise artist riders and deliver them to stages/green rooms.
  • Arrivals/Accreditation Assistant - aiding the artist accreditation office to be the very first point of contact for artists, helping with wristbands and passes, and communicating with the AL Office about arrivals.

Other Roles Available:

  • Front Gate Volunteer - where you'll be the first point of contact for festival goers, helping with checking tickets & issuing wristbands, managing entry queues and providing a friendly welcome. Supporting security teams with access control, answering front gate queries, and seeing the full working of a front gate. Shifts are only 6 hours per day and the rest of the festival is yours to enjoy.
  • Build and Break Volunteer - where you will see and be part of the transformation of fields into a festival playground. Roles will include helping with gazebos and signs, painting pallets, decorating tents and green rooms and fireproofing decor. You will do 2 days on the build and 1 on the break (takedown), or 1 on build and 2 on the break, and have the full festival off to enjoy.

Artist Operations provides staff across areas such as artist relations, logistics and hospitality across a range of major UK music festivals. They are offering work placements at this year’s Kendal Calling (Lake District, 31st July – 3rd August) and Parklife (Manchester, 14th-15th June) which will be open to Leeds Conservatoire students.

The roles are in Accreditation, Artist Liaison and as Runners; full details can be found here. The placements are unpaid but include full access to the festival itself, staff camping and 2 meal tokens per shift.

We are excited to announce our performance opportunities at Sound City Festival, taking place across Liverpool from 3rd-4th May 2025.

We are looking for current Leeds Conservatoire student bands or artists (all pathways and years) to apply, as well as those that graduated from the Conservatoire in 2024.

You would receive a free weekend pass to the festival, including the conference on May 2nd. Depending on logistics, the Conservatoire will either arrange transport to and from the festival, or make a contribution towards artists' expenses.

Application window: Monday 28th October - Monday 18th November.

Applications will close at 12pm on Monday 18th November. Late submissions cannot be accepted.

Applications will be reviewed as quickly as possible, and successful applicants will hopefully be notified by Friday 20th December.

If you’re successful, performances will take place at a time TBC across the weekend. You must be able to commit to these dates in advance.

Live at Leeds in the City is a multi-venue festival taking place across Leeds on Saturday 16th November 2024.

This year Leeds Conservatoire is partnering with Futuresound to provide ten voluntary work opportunities for current Leeds Conservatoire students and Class of 2024 graduates.

The role involves shadowing and supporting the technical manager at one of the following Live at Leeds venues:

  • Stylus
  • The Wardrobe
  • Headrow House
  • Oporto
  • Key Club

This volunteer role is to assist the Venue Technical Manager/Front of House engineer. Each volunteer will be positioned in 1 Venue only.

The role will consist of assisting with the technical production on show day. Reporting to the Venue Tech Manager, they will be given direction through the day. The tasks may consist of, but are not limited to: stage end tech and backline manoeuvring; backline management; cable management; assisting artists and other general Stage Crew tasks. Ultimately, technical production is very dynamic and the tasks that may be presented on the day vary dependent on the venue and artist.

Desirably the candidate will have an interest in Stage Tech/Crew roles and will have some experience and understanding of this side of the industry. An understanding of standard backline (drum kits, guitar amps, bass amps and electronic instruments) will certainly help.

  • Hours: Each applicant will be required to work around 4-5 hours at a specific venue during the course of the festival
  • Availability: Applicants must be available throughout 16th November, as exact timings are tbc.
  • Application deadline: Thursday 7th November 10am. Applications will be reviewed as soon as possible.

These opportunities are unpaid; however you will have full access to the festival before and after your shift.

We've curated showcase stages at The Alternative Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City and organised performers, curators and staff for festivals such as Underneath the Stars, Long Division and We Out Here.
