
Biography Guitar & Ensemble Tutor
In 2014, Huw graduated from Leeds Conservatoire with a 2:1 in Popular Music (specialising in guitar) and again in 2019 with a masters in composition.
Throughout his career he has worked alongside numerous top producers and session musicians.
He is a multi-instrumentalist, his first instrument being guitar. He is the lead songwriter, singer and guitarist for rock band KOYO, who so far have released three studio albums to widespread critical acclaim, making end of year listings in Classic Rock, Louder Than War and PROG magazines. They have also performed at Download, Reading and Leeds, Ramblin’ Man and more.
As a session musician, highlights include performing at Open’er festival in Poland (supporting M.I.A.) with pop singer KARI and performing on CBBC’s Blue Peter with pop singer RIKA.
He is also band leader and guitarist for pink suited funk and soul function band Club Mojo.
Huw has extensive experience working as a guitar and ensemble tutor, such as teaching privately out of his studio space at the Chapel in Leeds since 2019, freelance at Robert Ogden School (National Autistic Society) and Rock School UK and every Saturday at Leeds Junior Conservatoire.
He loves passing on his knowledge and expertise to his students and acting as a role model and source of inspiration to them.
In the future he aims to keep building on what he’s doing as a tutor, session musician and artist to see where it takes him next.
