Jacob Savage

Lecturer

After winning the prestigious John Ogdon Scholarship in consecutive years, he went on to gain a first class degree in Popular Music Composition from Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College of Music) in just two years. Towards the end of his time there, he became featured artist on BBC Radio 1 with his duo ‘alphabet.’ This led to a career in songwriting working with multiple major record labels and collaborating on multiple chart hits as both a writer and musician.

Jacob always maintained his instrumentalist skills and toured the world playing piano and guitar for various artists. He regularly performs at many of the country's leading jazz venues including Matt & Phred's in Manchester, as well as holding the first ever residency at the iconic Domino Club, Leeds.

He has since delved into the world of Musical Theatre as a Musical Director being both a panellist and an accompanist on a multitude of West End, Regional and Touring productions. He was the Musical Director for NYTC (Northern Youth Theatre Company) on many productions as well as with Opera Della Luna for a sell-out run at the legendary Wilton’s Music Hall and has since returned to Leeds Conservatoire as a lecturer on their new Musical Theatre course.

In 2024, he was the Musical Director for an Upskill Camp for BYMT (British Youth Music Theatre) who he is a regular collaborator with. The other half of his work is filming and photography which has seen him produce multiple music videos, showreels, and live sessions as well as documentaries for companies such as the NHS, Made in Leeds TV, and the BBC.
