His career has allowed him to perform at some of the world's most prestigious festivals, including Glastonbury, Fuji Rock in Japan, Latitude, BST, Love Supreme, and multiple WOMAD festivals in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain. Additionally, he’s had the honour of appearing on iconic shows like "Later... with Jools Holland", BBC 6 Music's "Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show (Live)" and BBC Radio 4's "Loose Ends" and "Planet Music."

Joost has a wealth of experience as a studio musician, recording in some of the UK's best studios such as Real World, ATA, Echo Zoo, The LightShip, Chairworks, and The SAE Institute among others; recording drums for a huge array of different artists. His playing has featured on tracks with Paloma Faith, Illa J, MF Doom, Slum Village and in several different productions globally including Netflix's "Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget," Channel 4's "We Are Ladyparts," and the live dance production of Akram Kahn's "Chotto Xenos".

Joost's passion for music has taken him on several journeys through India, where he dedicated himself to learning from renowned Hindustani and Carnatic music mentors including Prattyush Banerjee and Pandit S. Sekhar, to deepen his understanding of time and rhythmic awareness.

His teaching method reflects his extensive experience, as he carefully distills the essential concepts of rhythm and the role of a drummer into easily accessible lessons, covering topics such as Groove Playing, Time Feel, Independence/Co-ordination, Linear Drumming, Phrasing, Metric Modulation, Moëller Technique, Push/Pull Technique, Posture, Sight-Reading, Global Rhythms and Drum History.
