Serena is a strings player and tutor for Leeds Junior Conservatoire. They enjoy listening to and playing any style of music from Classical and Folk to Symphonic Metal and Pop. As an arranger, Serena is able to arrange music for students based on their interests and level. Having gigged in orchestras and bands for years, they can also help students on a performance level if that's what they are looking for.
Serena loves music as a universal language and form of expression. They feel that it is very valuable in a therapeutic and developmental sense, due to the opportunity it gives people to show their emotions, while also developing coordination, listening skills, music reading, and concentration.
Using skills learned through working in a creative arts charity for young people with special educational needs, Serena teaches in a holistic way, making sure that they are adapting to the student's needs, wants, and goals. While lessons are planned in advance, they are also student-led to ensure that the student is getting the most out of their lessons.
