This year’s event showcased amazing work from all Saturday classes featuring talented young musicians, actors, and music tech students.
Throughout the day, over 100 students in more than 20 groups were spread out across four performance spaces, playing a vast repertoire including pop tunes, indie/alt rock, musical theatre, contemporary jazz, and classical pieces.
Head of Leeds Junior Conservatoire, Karen Gourlay said:
“What continues to impress me every year is the sheer range of musical styles performed to such high standards.”
The feedback from the audience and tutors were very positive and encouraging, with student performers themselves highlighting how performing helps them develop their musical voice. These performances are valuable opportunities to apply skills and knowledge practically on stage while expressing themselves creatively and confidently.
A student in the LJC jazz band, Amelia said, "We all enjoyed performing at the Festival as it was such a fun experience. It’s one of the best ways to learn and improve musically. We are planning to continue this band outside of the Conservatoire and start booking some gigs ourselves!”
A massive well done to students, staff, and organisers who participated in the event and to the friends and families who showed incredible support. All of our students have strong aspirations in music, with many continuing to study their respective disciplines at higher levels. We are proud to share the good news of them securing offers from Universities and Conservatoires.
Join us at our next festival in March 2026, which will mark 25 years of running this programme, and hear the next generation of young creatives in the making.
