Students applying for the Tech programme do not need to audition.
All Other LJC Music Programmes
To make sure all students’ thrive at Leeds Junior Conservatoire, we ask that all young musicians who are hoping to join us to send us a video audition. This helps us know where they will be best placed. The video can be a single video or two separate video files and should contain either:
- Two pieces played on their instrument and/or singing. These can be existing pieces or original compositions/songs.
Where possible, we offer bespoke timetables for students who may not have the relevant experience and ability on their main instrument.
Audition Guidance and Tips
- Pick two pieces you feel comfortable with and enjoy playing
- Please say your name and the name of the piece you will be playing and who it is by before you start playing/singing
- You can record your videos on a phone/tablet, don't worry too much about the production quality (just as long as we can see and hear you) - we do not expect professional videos (but if you have those you are able to submit them)
- You can record your pieces in two separate videos - you do not have to record both pieces in one go (but you are welcome to submit a single file containing both if that is easiest)
