What happens on the first day of term?
The first day of term is Saturday 14 September 2024.
On Arrival
New students for the first week can arrive from 8:30AM when the building is quieter so we can say hello and introduce you to the LJC Team.
Returning students can arrive from 8.45AM and will be greeted at the entrance to Leeds Conservatoire by one of our friendly student ambassadors. Tutors will meet you in the cafe bar and take you to your first lesson.
During the day
You will attend the lessons on your timetable and have a tour of the building. The tour will show you the main areas that you will use with ways to remember how to get to your lessons. Tutors will also remind you about the code of conduct, and run through safety procedures such as how to get first aid help if needed or the steps we take if the fire alarm goes off.
At the end of the day
An LJC staff member or student ambassador will sign you out as you leave the conservatoire building. Staff members will be around to wait with you whilst you are picked up. Students in Year 7 and above can make their own way home with their parents/carers permission.
Absences
If you cannot attend you must let us know by emailing Junior@lcm.ac.uk by 8.45AM on the day the lesson is scheduled to take place.
LJC Buddies
We know that starting something new is exciting but sometimes a little nerve racking so we pair all new LJC students up with returning students. Buddies will have a similar timetable, age and musical interests.
LJC is a supportive and friendly environment; we want all our students to feel that way!
Breaktimes
All students go to the Cafe Bar during their break times. You can chat with other students, eat your snacks and take a well-earned break between the sessions.
Can I buy food from the Cafe Bar?
Drinks, snacks and a limited selection of sandwiches are available to purchase from the Cafe Bar but we recommend you bring your own food and drink with you to avoid queueing for the full break time.
Toilets
Toilets for under-18s are through the doors at the far end of the cafe bar (follow the signs).
