Darcie Brown
This is second-year Musical Theatre student Darcie Brown singing 'My Wicker Man'. The song is from Darren Clark’s The Wicker Husband, a musical adaptation of a short story by Ursula Wills-Jones.
The musical is about an ‘Ugly Girl' who is resigned herself to a life alone, until the strange old Basket Maker creates a wonderful husband for her. Told through folk inspired song and storytelling, the show explores the question: ‘What is true ugliness?'
Hattie Rumsey
This is second-year Musical Theatre student Hattie Rumsey singing 'Time' from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Music and lyrics are by Darren Clark, and the book is by Jethro Compton. Hattie is accompanied by Aaron Newland-Bentley, who is a singing Co-ordinator for the Musical Theatre course.
The musical tells the story of a protagonist who is born as an old man and ages in reverse, and constructs a timeless tale of a love that defies all odds.
George Melvin
This Aftershow Sessions is a performance of 'I'll Write A Song For You' from the musical, 'Fiver'. Performing is George Melvin, a second year student on our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme. Music and lyrics are by Alex James Ellison and Tom Lees. George is accompanied by Aaron Newland-Bentley.
The musical depicts carefully interwoven narrative threads to explore the value of money, relationships between people, and the relationships between people and their money.
Libby Vincent
This is a performance of 'Unbound' from the delightful new musical, 'My 80 Year Old Boyfriend'. The performer is Libby Vincent, a first year student on our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme. Music and lyrics are by Christian Duhamel and Ed Bell, and Libby is accompanied by Aaron Newland-Bentley.
Based on the true story of performer Charissa Bertels, My 80-Year-Old Boyfriend reveals the thrill of chasing a dream, the power of living in the now, and all that can happen when we let ourselves say "yes."
Elliot Broadfoot
This is final-year Musical Theatre student Elliot Broadfoot singing 'Whatever Comes' by Kansley and Lidert. The session was recorded during his first year. Elliot is accompanied by Senior Lecturer Andrew Griffiths
The song is from Kansley and Lidert's songbook 'Circles of Love' which explores the highs and lows of relationships. The song is in a lively 5/4 tempo, giving an uncertain feel, and is about finding optimism in the face of adversity.
