If you are staying in your accommodation over Christmas

If you are staying in your student accommodation over Christmas, your accommodation provider will contact you directly to let you know what support is available throughout the Christmas period.

Accommodation staff are used to supporting students who stay in Leeds and this year will be no different.

Here are some tips for making the most of your time over Christmas.

If you are going home for Christmas

If you’re leaving your student accommodation or shared house this Christmas, remember to do the following:

  • Lock your doors and windows, and close your ground floor curtains for added security
  • Take your valuables home with you, or make sure they can’t be seen from the outside.
  • Take the rubbish out (remember to clear your fridge, too)
  • Donate any unwanted food to a foodbank collection point
  • Switch off the lights and unplug everything (you might want to consider leaving a lamp on a timer switch for added security)
  • If you live in a shared house, consider leaving your heating on a low setting to avoid burst pipes
  • Wash your bedding - nothing beats coming back to a freshly-made bed
