Meet our tutorsMake the most out of your Open Day...
Whether you’re itching to get through the door or feeling a little bit anxious, there’s no doubt that open days provide a crucial opportunity for you to experience your new place of study.
Here at Leeds Conservatoire there’s plenty to see and do on your Open Day, so we’ve created a handy checklist to help you make the most out of it!
Still need to book your place to come and see us? Find out when our next open day takes place...
1. Tour the facilities
We can talk until we’re blue in the face about our world-class facilities here at Leeds Conservatoire, but that’s not quite the same as seeing them for yourself!
Performance, production and business students will have the chance to see our top-notch rehearsal rooms, Steinway piano suite, multiple Mac labs, unique performance spaces and demos in our state-of-the-art studios. Grab a tour from 11am – 4pm!
Drama students will spend most of the day in our brand new, purpose-built dance and drama studios in our new building at Playhouse Square, with an opportunity to join the wider campus tours later in the day.
2. Find out about your course
There’s no better way to get a feel for studying at Leeds Conservatoire than by experiencing our lesson demos and course talks. Whether you’re taking part in a Musical Theatre workshop, joining the Jazz lesson demo involving our current students, or being inspired about starting your own business in our Music Business talk, you’ll get a taster of what it’s like to study here at Leeds Conservatoire.
3. Meet our students
Our students will be around all day to help paint a picture of life at Leeds Conservatoire! Student artists will provide music throughout the day, our SU reps will have a stall in the Café Bar, and our friendly student ambassadors will be on hand to help with your questions.
It’s a good idea to think about what you really want to know about the experience at Leeds Conservatoire before you get to your Open Day. Wondering what it’s really like to be a student in Leeds? Ask away! The team will be happy to help!
4. Get to know our academic team
Our academic team – including Programme Leaders and Lecturers, will answer your questions about your chosen course.
It’s beneficial to have a look at the module layout of your chosen course before your Open Day, so that you can find out more about any aspect that you’re unsure about. Don’t be shy – just ask!
5. Tour the accommodation
If you’re moving away from home for the first time, it’s vital to get a feel for where you’ll be living, and start to imagine yourself in your new home!
The tours take place from 11.00am - 4.30pm and will cover our two partner accommodation sites; including Joseph Stones House - our right-on-campus accommodation.
You can also see One Mill Street, which features an on-site gym, lockable bike storage and a landscaped garden. Both sites not only ensure easy access to the conservatoire, but they’re just a short walk into the heart of Leeds city centre – so you’ll have everything you need, right on your doorstep!
6. Walk around the city
It’s a good idea to make some time to walk around our amazing city whilst on your Open Day! Leeds has so much to offer, from great gig venues, music shops, art, delicious eateries and shopping. We’ve picked a few of our favourites that we recommend you do not miss if it’s your first time in Leeds!
