We are delighted to offer Year 9 and Year 10 school students the opportunity to observe a short one-hour live vocal recording session via Zoom from the comfort of their classroom, with the opportunity to interact with experienced Music Production tutors from Leeds Conservatoire. The session will include considerations of microphone selection/comparison, making the most out of audio equipment, performance vocal capture guidance and more.
Our tutors will tailor the session towards students who have limited audio equipment and wish to capture sonically consistent vocal/instrumental performances.
There is no cost for the school to attend any of these sessions. We recommend attending one session per school.
Who is it for?
The sessions are suitable for either Year 9 and/or Year 10 students who are interested in music production. There will be time at the end of the session for students to ask questions to our experienced Music Production staff.
In order to have a more personalised experience, we recommend a maximum of 15 students per session slot. However if your school has a bigger class size and you would like more students to attend this zoom session, we can certainly accommodate this. Please let us know approx. student numbers on the booking form below.
Please be aware that depending on class sizes, we may welcome more than one small school group onto the same zoom session. Where possible though, we would prefer for one school to book per session slot so we can ensure a more personalised experience.

Accessing the session in school
In order to access the session, it would be beneficial for the school to have the following set-up in place:
- A decent broadband/tested connection
- The latest version of Zoom installed on the machine
- A webcam that will capture the classroom so Leeds Conservatoire staff can interact with the students
- A large enough screen so that the classroom can view what our tutors will be showing them in the studio
- A decent quality pair of speakers connected to the zoom call so that your students/staff will be able to hear the qualitative differences that our tutors will be discussing
