About Us
Leeds Conservatoire is a renowned UK institution, specialising in music and performing arts education. We offer diverse undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as the Leeds Junior Conservatoire for young talent. The Conservatoire emphasises developing career-ready musicians, performers, producers, and entrepreneurs.
Based in Leeds, in the heart of the vibrant arts and cultural scene, which provide the perfect backdrop for our creative studies. We host a wide range of performances, masterclasses, conferences, and events throughout the year to showcase our talent.
More about our historyWe are a member of Luminate Education Group, one of Yorkshire's largest education providers. Our group comprises of six unique organisations: University Centre Leeds, Leeds City College, Leeds Sixth Form College, Pudsey Sixth Form College, Harrogate College, and Keighley College. United by a common purpose, we are dedicated to delivering transformative education and training that enhance lives and fortify communities.
We recognise, value and celebrate diversity. Diversity for us is very important as we engage with a diverse student population and we want to ensure we reflect that in our staff population too. For us diversity is about building happy teams, full of people that want to learn and be inspired by each other and our different experiences and backgrounds, for both staff and students to achieve their full potential.
Our recruitment processes help ensure that candidates and potential candidates are treated fairly. We try to achieve this by trying to eliminate bias in the process by doing anonymous shortlisting (removing candidate’s name and other identifying information from their application form). All staff complete the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training as part of their induction programme. We do a staff survey every year to find out what our staff think and feel about the Group
We welcome those who wish to declare a disability to do so, and if you are invited for an interview, you can contact us to discuss any steps we need to take to enable you to attend an interview. If successful at interview you can either discuss with your line manager or Occupational Health any adjustments/additional support or equipment you may require to enable you to do your job.
We have access to a number of different staff Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) forums, which staff are able to join, that help us to develop processes and policies to encourage ED&I across our whole Group.
We have a team dedicated to EDI, that looks after both staff and students. They have created our Equality Objectives which will breakdown structural barriers to learning, progression, community engagement and collaboration, leading to a more equitable and inclusive organisation for all of our staff, students and communities.

We are committed to the safeguarding of everyone that works or studies at Leeds Conservatoire, therefore our staff and volunteers must share this commitment. It ensures that our students can learn, grow and thrive in a safe and supportive environment, ultimately contributing to their success and wellbeing.
